RUBBER DUCK DERBY

Duck Day

A beautiful Sunday morning on Ordinance Island, St.George, with blue skies and sun shine overhead.  We were there to witness the annual Rubber Duck Derby of Bermuda.  Hundreds of cute little yellow rubber ducks are launched from the bridge at high tide.  Bystanders watched as they bobbed their way under the bridge - a wave of yellow bath duckies on their way to the finish line.  There were a few young swimmers treading water waiting to scoop up the winners, and some kayakers doing the herding.

A great time for all - it certainly brought the community together.  We had food stands, an ice cream truck and merchandise stalls.  Also lovely to watch young dancers in a variety of competitions.  Lots of music and lots of fun.

2016 was the 20th year for this very worthwhile event with all proceeds going towards hospice care in Bermuda.  Nice to be a participant this year.
